Something about the Ourika Valley
Ourika river flows in the Ourika valley. The valley is located on the edge of the high Atlas, about 50 minutes drive from Marrakech. A visit to the Ourika valley is an ideal day trip to escape the bustle of the city. Because of the cooling that the valley offers, it is an ideal place in the summer and there is plenty to do.
The village of Aghmat is one of the nice villages on the way to the valley. This was an important capital city around 800 BC. This place was also important for the trading caravans that traveled from Marrakech to sub-Saharan Africa as a stop before or after passing the mountains. In Aghmat one can visit a mausoleum and there are excavations of the old irrigation systems of the city.
Along the road that leads you through the valley you come across Argan oil cooperatives. Although the Argannoot does not grow in the valley but in the vicinity of Agadir, it is processed here in the traditional way by these cooperatives where mainly Berber women work. Often you can see how the oil is made in these places. Argan oil is used as an oil for the skin and in a slightly different form for eating.
Another attraction of the valley is the hike to the seven waterfalls of Setti Fatma. You can hike here along all waterfalls.
Setti Fatma is the last village in the valley and can be a good starting point for longer hikes. You can book a guide at the local Bureau des Guides.
Scattered through the valley there are several places to stay overnight. Aghbalou is the biggest place and a good place to find a hotel. Setti Fatma is also a good place because of the waterfalls. Kasbah Bab Ourika is very nice. (Kasbahbabourika.com)

Something about Oualidia
Oualidia is a town with about 4000 inhabitants and is located halfway between Casablanca and Essaouira. The main attraction is the beautiful beach bordered by dunes. Due to its isolated location, mass tourism has not been given a chance here and Oualidia is therefore particularly suitable for those seeking tranquility. The town itself is not very much, but off the coast is a beautiful lagoon with wonderfully quiet bathing water. The five-star hotel La Sultana is the place that the Moroccan royal family once chose as a summer residence. Oualidia is also known for its highly qualified oyster farming and lovers of these shellfish can get their hands on it here. It is also a paradise for birdwatchers, because of the large bird migration that comes here in the spring and autumn on the way to Central Africa.
South of Oualidia is Safi, since the 16th century an important Moroccan port and especially known for its beautiful pottery. It has an interesting Medina, where the traces of the Portuguese past have been well preserved.

Something about Essaouira
Essaouira is an old city by the sea with a population of around 70,000 and therefore much smaller than Agadir; it is located about 200 km north of Agadir also at 3 hours from Marrakech. The name Essaouira is a diminutive and means wall or wall. Until the 60s it had the Portuguese name Mogador; you will still find a lot of this name in the city.
Essaouira, like Agadir, is a fishing port where mainly sardine is caught. It is, just like Agadir and Marrakesh, an important tourist attraction.
Another important attraction of the city is the Medina with its numerous restaurants and shops. From the Medina you can walk to the beach or along the boulevard with numerous hotels and restaurants. Even in the evening and at night it is pleasantly busy in Essaouira.
On the road to Agadir you will find many Argan trees. These trees only grow in south-west Morocco. The trees, when they are thirty years old, produce fruit that contains hard seeds that again contain seeds from which the argan oil is obtained. This oil is used for cosmetic and culunary purposes.
